Three pupils die after been struck by lightning

Three pupils from Mkulima Primary School in Kuresoi North,Nakuru county have died after been struck by lightning.

The incident which occurred on Thursday  at 3.00pm as the pupils sought shelter from the heavy rains also left over 52 pupils with injuries. The injured are admitted at Kuresoi Health Center where they are under observation by clinical officers. Some have been referred to the Nakuru Level 5 hospital.

According to the area MP Moses Cheboi the area has been experiencing heavy rainfall which may have led to the incident. Cheboi says that experts warn that similar incidents may happen in future if no lightning arrestors are installed. He said he will set aside money from the NG-CDF emergency kitty to buy lightning arrestors to avoid further harm.

He was speaking after visiting the injured at Kuresoi Health Center.
