James Karanja Nyoro is the new Governor of Kiambu County Government.

Nyoro was officially sworn in today by High Court Judge Justice John Onyiego two days after his former boss, ousted Governor Ferdinand Waititu was impeached by the Senate over gross violation of the Constitution and Public Finance Management Act, Crimes under the National Law and gross abuse of office.

Today's swearing in ceremony appeared more organized compared to the one which was to be held on Thursday. The ceremony was attended by political leaders from the central region and hundreds of Kiambu residents. Nyoro was accompanied by his wife as he took oath of office amidst ululations from the crowd.

The swearing in ceremony  which had been slated for Thursday was marred with confusion after the High court judge who was to preside over the ceremony sent out a press statement detailing procedural issues as the reason to why the ceremony did not take place despite politicians and leaders in the county assembling at the county headquarters. Later on during the day, the  Judiciary sent out a notice postponing the event to a later date without giving reasons.

Nyoro, an Agricultural Economist has been deputising Waititu since 2017 though their relationship has been a cold one with Nyoro accusing Waititu of sidelining him in the running of the county affairs.
