Embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has blamed Kiambu politicians and the residents for his predicaments.

Appearing before the Senate during the hearing of his impeachment motion, Waititu who appeared emotional as he argued out his case said that politics in Kiambu has led to his political adversaries using bloggers to write unfounded and fake stories against him. "Kiambu is known for serious propagandists. There has been a lot of propaganda through social media and bloggers paid by politicians to malign my name. They have gotten away with the issue as they keep repeating lies and it ends up looking like the truth. They started rumours that my daughter was found with Sh 100 million in her account yet she only had nine thousand shillings," said the Governor.

The Governor argued that he was not given a chance by the Kiambu county assembly to present his case. He noted that the county assembly bypassed the standing orders on the expected quorum to pass such a motion. "The law provides that a motion should be passed by two thirds of members present. The Kiambu county assembly has 92 members. Only 57 members voted for the motion. One voted against it."

He argued that the assembly failed to meet the standing orders and breached procedures by delivering the motion to the Senate in 4 days instead of the agreed 3 days.

"I believe this house has a mandate to give the residents of Kiambu the truth and justice that they require. However bad I might look politically, I should be given justice," he said.
