Police in Uganda are holding former music star turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine and his presidential consultation team a day when they were supposed to start his first consultative meeting for his 2021 Presidential ambitions.

The MP for Kyadondo East constituency and his team were met with teargas and bullets at Kasangati area blocking them from accessing the venue where he was scheduled to hold his first consultation meeting.

Hon. Kyagulanyi and other People Power leaders are detained at Kasangati Police Station despite complying with all lawful requirements for such a gathering. Police have also arrested NBS reporter Edward Kisekka, Radio Simba's Ssematimba Bwejiire and NTV's Arnold Sseremba as they covered Bobi Wine's arrest.

Police say that Bobi Wine's consultation meeting has been stopped because the selected venue has no toilets.

According to the legislator, his team was set to begin consultations from his home in Kyadondo East on Monday, and then go to six other districts in Northern Uganda.

Media sources report that a woman may have lost her one day old baby after the police lobbed teargas in her house.
