The Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government will introduce service level index approach that is meant to measure the amount of time citizens spend in getting government services.

Speaking during the second Annual Security, review and planning conference CS for Interior Fred Matiang'i said that the approach which is similar to that of World Bank ease of doing business index will guide government departments in ensuring they provide efficient and effective service delivery to citizens. "I have received so many complaints of how government officials frustrate Kenyans who go to them to get public services especially in the civil registration department. We cannot make Kenyans slaves in their own country by paying for services that aren't supposed to be charged and spending too much time in those offices," he said. He added that any government official who will be found lax at work will be dismissed immediately.

The CS outlined a 10 point plan that his ministry will be focused on in 2020. These are;war against terror, achievement of digitization and automation of public services, proliferation of firearms, war against drugs and white collar crimes and embarking on statutory reforms in regard to citizens' services.

Matiang'i has also said that the National Transport and Safety Authority(NTSA) will cease the issuance of manual driving licences as well as driving fines by 1st of July,2020 a move meant to digitise all government services.

On the war against terrorism, the CS said he is aware of the recent terror attacks in the country and noted that his ministry is aware of locals who are collaborating and colluding with terror gangs and groups. He said the government has invested more resources targeted at fighting the vice. "We must make it painful and we must deal with terrorism with a decisive and final blow," he said.

He was speaking in Mombasa during the  second annual security, review and planning forum that was attended by top level security organs.
