"Wajinga nyinyi!" Alice Wahome lashes out at critics

Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome has lashed out at a section of Kenyans who have criticised her after photos of poorly maintained toilets of a primary school in her constituency surfaced online.

The MP was responding to a twitter user by the name @ngigiboniface who posted an image of the neglected toilets of Kariguini Primary School in Murang'a. "Status of Toilets in Kariguini primary school in Kandara Constituency rep by Hon Alice Wahome."

The MP in a quick rejoinder told him off by claiming that the school is not the only one in such a condition. "That is the shame of school infrustructure in Kenya. Not just Kandara. Jingawewe."

She did not stop at that as she went on to challenge her critics to point out a job description of a Member of Parliament that shows the role of maintaining school infrastructure. "I challenge those who have commented to tell me where in my contract as an MP i was given the job of fixing school infrustructure then you will make sense, Wajinga Nyinyi. Haters."

However, her critics feel that she is speaking with her foot in the mouth because in September 2019, the MP presided over a function at Rukira Primary School with a plaque showing that it was about renovation of classrooms and face lifting which was funded by Kandara NG-CDF

Kenyans have expressed their disdain on the MP for using insults and apportioning blame after been called out. @MuhangaMike posted; "You're an embarrassment to the legal profession. As a lawyer, you should be conversant with Section 24 of the NG-CDF Act. That law details how you should spent the ksh 100m you receive every year as CDF. Education is a national govt project that qualifies for CDF funding."
@MissAntre;"Do you listen to yourself all the time? What promises or pledges were you offering your constituents. Like why would you be at the helm of a life changing position and not do it? What is wrong with you!"
@MaureenAkinyi19,"Why are you a member of parliament? Do you even know your role? I pity the people you represent."

Though the mandate of MPs is to represent, legislate and oversight, many Kenyans still feel that the MPs have an obligation to sort out any social problems facing their constituents.
