Sonko's case postponed.

The assault case involving embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has been postponed to January 21,2020 after the governor failed to show up in court.

According to his lawyer George Kithi , the governor has been unwell and that is the reason he was not able to show up at the Voi court today.

Kithi says that the charge sheet presented to them has 3 charges of resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and obstructing lawful arrest.

Sonko has also been ordered to appear at Voi police station before his hearing in January.

Sonko was arrested in early December after the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji ordered that Sonko and other county officials be charged with misappropriating Sh357 million belonging to the Nairobi County. The governor has also been barred from accessing the Nairobi County offices by Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti.
