Kenyans react angrily over renaming of holidays

Kenyans on Twitter are up in arms over a decision by the Cabinet to rename Moi Day, which falls on 10th October, to Huduma Day and renaming of Boxing Day to Utamaduni Day. According to the Cabinet the renaming of Moi Day is in line with former President Daniel Arap Moi’s desire that the day be commemorated as a day of service and volunteerism.

Kenyans took to twitter to express their displeasure over the decision. Lawyer Miguna Miguna posted, "More than 20 million UNEMPLOYED Kenyan youth with university, college and high school diplomas need jobs. They don't care about RENAMING of holidays. Despot Uhuru Kenyatta: WORK instead of being DRUNK and STONED 24/7. Leave Waiguru to Waiganjo."
