Al-Shabab claims responsibility for the truck bomb attack in Mogadishu

The Al-Shabab armed group has claimed responsibility for the truck bomb attack that happened last Saturday in Mogadishu, Somalia.

In an audio message, the group’s spokesman Sheik Ali Mohamed Rage said that the group was responsible for the attack that killed 81 people amongst them 16 university students and left dozens more injured.
"The mujahideen carried out an attack targeting a convoy of Turkish mercenaries and apostate militia who were escorting them."

In a rare move, the group has apologised to Somali citizens who were affected by the attack.

"We are very sorry about the casualty that was inflicted on our Somali Muslim society, and we are extending our condolences to the Muslims who have lost their lives and were wounded and whose property was destroyed."
